Website sales have become so popular that other retailers, even ones that one would never think would take the online approach, have gone online. A recent example would be of course gigantic retailers such as Wal-Mart who are now themselves competing with Amazon instead of Amazon competing with them. Amazon recently celebrated its twentieth year anniversary with "huge" sales for their Amazon Prime Day. Wal-Mart retaliated by starting their own sales and having them last longer than Amazon's Prime Day. Other examples, some being unorthodox, are pizza companies who now allow their consumers to go online and purchase products with their computers, even tracking it. Even looking back a decade we were traveling to local video stores to rent movies that we wanted to see. That slowly transitioned with movies coming in the mail. That idea fast transitioned to online ways to watch television and new movies. With the emergence of Netflix, an online movie provider, has put a lot of small businesses out of business, but at the same time made our lives a lot easier. No longer do we have to go to a video store to look for movies, no more have to remember to return the physical copy, and no longer do we have to worry about late fees. All of this has been fixed by the emergence of the online video business. The emergence of online business has most of all saved consumers a lot of money and that is why we have adopted it so well. It is easier to access the information we need rather than look through ads on paper or even in a newspaper. Now we just Google anything we are looking for and will find numerous options of purchase possible. With this it is easy to compare the prices of each store and take the cheapest back to Amazon, if we want to price match, or just purchase from the site we saw the item at. This isn't an issue because most online websites offer free shipping if we are willing to wait a bit, with some websites offering discounts for becoming members. Online business has changed a lot of items in our lives as a consumer standpoint and with the continue innovations we are moving forward in a direction that will only improve. As of now Amazon is testing for one day delivery, more stores are being added to their price match policy, and new items (such as food) is being offered more widely. It is incredible to see how far we have come since the emergence of online retailers in such a short time, it will be incredible to see where we go.
